Controversies are part of any team, says Khan

Jaipur: With two of his key players failing drugs test Pakistan captain Younis Khan is trying desperately to face up to the situation.

The man in Pakistan cricket's hot seat, however, managed to answer questions with a smile and a brave face.

Gulf News: How difficult is it going to be for the team?

Khan: When top players are not part of the team, it is bound to be difficult for any team. But I am sure the others will play positively to win the match.

Gulf News: Are you confident that pakistan has the capacity to withstand such a situation?

Jaipur: Yes. Controversies are part of any team. A positive attitude is what we need now to encounter such a situation. All they have to do is to apply themselves to the task ahead of them.

Gulf News: Do you think the players are guilty?

Jaipur: I have always supported my players. They were under medication and may not know what they have taken.

Gulf News: Then who is responsible for what they take?

Jaipur: Everyone: the board and the players involved.

Gulf News: There is talk that someone from your board has intentionally leaked the news of the drug test, especially before the first match?

Jaipur: The tests were sent to Malaysia and they came in late; that is why it was announced late. So your team is not under pressure? No. Our aim is to play good cricket whatever the situation we are in. Whatever has happened has happened. If the dope test was done by the ICC and not the PCB, things could have been worse.
