Ranchi: Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who is enrolled as an under-graduate student in a Bachelor of Commerce (B. Com) programme at a college here, could not sit for his first semester examinations, though college authorities said they would make special arrangements for the star player to answer it later.

The first semester exams of St Xavier's College started on Monday and Dhoni, despite being in Ranchi, skipped it. According to sources close to his family, the cricketer was not prepared to take the exams owing to a busy cricket calendar. He has just finished playing the one-day series against the visiting England side.

In view of his hectic cricketing schedule, the St Xavier's College management decided to make special arrangements for him and will soon hand over books and course material to his family.

"We are planning to give special assignments to Dhoni so that he can prepare himself. A special examination will be conducted for him," Father Nicolas Tete, principal of the college, said.

Sources in the college management said the Indian skipper may even be allowed to take the exam online, like in distance education courses.

Dhoni had arrived in Ranchi on Friday.
