Dubai: An invaluable tip from an Indian coach has helped Gopal Jasapara, who is known for his left-arm spin bowling in domestic cricket, transform to a good batsman too.

He hit an unbeaten 142 in 72 balls with 13 fours and 3 sixes in the Sharjah Cricket Council Invitation League. In an earlier match, he also hit an unconquered 83 in 51 balls against Dubai Islamic Bank with three sixes and eight fours in the same tournament.

M. Senthilnathan, the coach at the MRF Pace Foundation who had guided Sachin Tendulkar to form after his tennis elbow operation, corrected Jaspara's batting grip.

"Senthilnathan corrected my grip and I can now freely play my shots on both sides of the wicket," Jasapara said.
