Active IT breeze into semifinals

Dubai: Active IT, spurred on by an all-round performance by Murtuza, sprinted past Yogi Group into the semifinals of the Dubai Cricket Council-conducted Twenty20 Cup at Zabeel Park.

Yogi, batting first, were bowled out for a meagre 95 in 14.2 overs. Kashif Mahmoud was the only batsman to get into double figures with 13. Mubasher was the pick of the bowlers with 3 wickets for 28 runs.

In reply, Active IT breezed past the target in 15.1 overs as Murtuza rounded off a good day with an unbeaten 17 and Prasanna top-scored for them with 22.

Jai Prakash picked up two wickets, while Naeemullah bagged three wickets to give Active IT some anxious moments.

Active IT now take on Eurocon Alubond in the semifinal, while Air-India face Nucaf Tellicherry.
