Dubai: Boxing legend Mike Tyson has denied reports that he is set to appear as a VIP guest at the World Championships for Arab Boxing here this month.
‘Iron Mike' and his one-time nemesis Danny Williams were reported to have agreed to appear ring-side for a series of fights at Festival City on January 21 and 22.
But the former heavyweight champion Tweeted on Friday: "There is a rumour about me being in Dubai on Jan 21st to do an appearance @ a fight match. This is not true. I will not be there."
He added: "Sorry to all my Dubai fans. Unfortunately, a bogus promoter pretending to represent me made an unlawful deal."
The championship has attracted top boxing champions from the US, Iraq, Switzerland, Russia, Netherlands, France, Tunisia, Egypt, Morocco, Surinam, Kuwait, Palestine, Spain, Colombia, Portugal, Turkey, Mauritania and the hosts, UAE.
