Dubai: Segasse of Lebanon and Zain of Jordan clash on Monday for the Arab clubs basketball title at Al Hussain sports city in Amman.
The two clubs won their semifinals held late Saturday night. Segasse defeated Kuwait club of Kuwait 76-67 and Zain beat compatriots Arthodox 101-77. Defending champions Al Riyadhy of Lebanon were beaten in their quarterfinal match by Zain who are now the favourites to win the title.
Experience
Meanwhile, the Al Nasr basketball team returned to Dubai after participating for the first time in the Arab basketball tournament in Jordan.
Al Nasr succeeded in reaching the second round, but were beaten by Zain of Jordan and Kuwait club. They won one match, defeating Al Nasser of Libya, but it was not enough to reach the semifinals.
Adil Dhain, the Al Nasr basketball manager, said, "It's a good experience for our young players as they take part for the first time in an outside tournament. They did well and showed a good form. Also we gain experience from participating in such strong tournaments which will help us very much in domestic tournaments when we play in the President's cup next week," he added after returning from Amman.
