San Antonio: The San Antonio Spurs, with a balanced scoring attack led by Danny Green’s 15 points, won their ninth game in a row on Friday by routing the Los Angeles Lakers 119-85.
Matt Bonner contributed 13 points and 10 rebounds, while Aron Baynes and Italy’s Marco Belinelli each added 12 for the Spurs, who boosted the NBA’s best record to 49-16.
“We shared the ball and everyone played great,” said Spurs guard Tony Parker. “That’s what we want.”
The Frenchman had seven points and four assists in just over 14 minutes on the court.
The Spurs lead Oklahoma City and Indiana by one game in the fight for the best overall record in the league and a home-court edge throughout the NBA play-offs.
Spaniard Pau Gasol had 18 points and 11 rebounds for the Lakers, who fell to 22-44 with their fifth loss in six games.
“The only disappointing thing was I thought heart-wise they grabbed our heart pretty quick and we just have to learn how to be able to compete and keep going,” Lakers coach Mike D’Antoni said.
The Spurs “Big Three” of Parker, Tim Duncan and Argentine guard Manu Ginobili played together in their 664th game and won for the 491st time, moving to second on the NBA’s all-time win list for trios and third in games played together.
They moved past the Lakers trio of Magic Johnson, Michael Cooper and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in both categories.
