Model School emerge triumphant

The Model School from Abu Dhabi won their own under-15 Inter School Basketball tournament with a classy 64-19 victory over defending champions Emirates National School, Sharjah.

  • The Model School from Abu Dhabi won the U-15 inter school basketball tournament with a 64-19 victory over defending champions Emirates National School, Sharjah.

Abu Dhabi: The Model School from Abu Dhabi won their own under-15 Inter School Basketball tournament with a classy 64-19 victory over defending champions Emirates National School, Sharjah.

In the final league match played at the Model High School courts in Mussafah, it was their consistent duo of Mohammad Irshad and Fawaz Ahmad who made the difference.

Irshad was the hero with a whopping 39 points to his credit while Fawaz added 22 in a one-sided final against the defending champions from Sharjah.

For Emirates National School, Karan Jacob Philip scored 9 points while Joel Mathew added five.

Top scorer

Earlier in the semifinals league, Model School defeated Millennium School Dubai 44-21 with Fawaz Ahmad emerging top scorer with 15 points. For Millennium, Sai Prasad Shetty impressed with a 16-point effort.

Millennium School also lost to Emirates National School but by a narrow margin of just one point. Emirates National School edged out Millennium with a 22-21 win with Vignesh Ranganathan and Sachin Sandanth scoring six points each. Sai Prasad was once again the star for Millennium with 16 points.

Rasheed, Principal of Al Noor School, and Nibanadan, Principal of Sunrise School awarded the 4th Ever-Rolling trophy to The Model School. Abdul Khader, Principal of Model School, Headmaster Nasari and Mahesh, the coach of Model School were present.

The main sponsors were My Campus Educational Institute, Abu Dhabi and co-sponsors were Almarai, Al Rawabi, Pocari Sweat and New Bombay Garage. Mohammad Irshad of The Model School was declared the best player of the tournament.

Karan Jacob Philip of Emirates National School, Sharjah was awarded promising player while Sai Prasad Shetty was named best feeder of the tournament.
