Dubai: Some of the best Filipino basketball players in Dubai will battle it out at the opening of the FBC-Chikka Grill Marco Polo Hotel Cup at the Al Nasr Club from April 11.
Celebrity player Atoy Co is coming to the emirate for the opening ceremony of the Marco Polo Hotel-sponsored basketball season.
Ted Magno, Filipino Basketball Centre (FBC) president, said fresh talent will grace the new season.
"The FBC committee is excited to open the season and we are thankful to Chikka Grill and Marco Polo Hotel for supporting this league for the benefit of the Filipino crowd here in the UAE."
Matches will be held in Sharjah every Friday and Saturday, and in Dubai from 8am till 9pm at the Al Nasr Club's indoor hall.
"Everybody is so eager to open the league for this first season," Magno said.
The championships will run for 22 consecutive weeks with an approximate completion in September.
"We are grateful to Marco Polo Hotel and to the Filipino Basketball Centre for their support," stated FBC chairman Ramon Pizarras.
