All Stars grab narrow victory over Hustlers in IBS League

Bonney, Thamshu and Rahul excel as side win by one basket.

  • The game was close for the most part but in the end All Stars proved too strong for the Hustlers.

Sharjah: All Stars-Dubai stunned Hoofbeatz Hustlers-Dubai, last year's runners up, in closely contested match in the RAK Aviation fourth IBS League Tournament played at Al Sha'ab Club Indoor Basketball court on Friday night.

All Stars, who recruited two Kerala State Players for this tournament, Bonney and Rahul, opened a six-point lead in the first quarter to lead 26-20.

All Stars' domination continued in the second quarter with a 19-15 score which gave them a 10-point advantage against Hustlers in the first half which ended 45-35.

Shajahan, Shankar and Jean Manaloor gelled well for Hustlers in the third quarter as they fought back to overcome the first half deficit of 10 points and led their team to a two-point margin at the end of the third quarter which ended 59-57.

Thereafter the game went neck and neck as the lead changed hands, but luck was on All Stars' side as they proceeded to win by a slender one-basket margin to leave the final score at 75-73.

Bonney excelled for All Stars by scoring 30 points. Thamshu netted 16 points and Rahul contributed 12 points for All Stars.

Shankar scored 16 points for the Hustlers as Jean Manaloor scored 15 points.

Earlier, Hoopers came back from behind to beat Miracles Twelve, 67-63, to stay unbeaten in pool B.

Miracles led the first quarter 22-14 but surrendered their lead in the last quarter.
