Dubai: Emirates-sponsored athlete Jane Westley finished first in her age group and second overall at the 2011 Dextro Energy Triathlon ITU World Championship Series in London.
Jane finished the gruelling triathlon course, which involves an 800 metre swim, 22 kilometre bike ride and a five kilometre run through London, in a time of 1:18.04secs.
"For Emirates, sponsoring dedicated individuals like Jane is an excellent way of broadening our sponsorship portfolio.
Jane's passion for her sport and commitment to achieve align perfectly with our own ethos and we are proud to have her fly the flag for Emirates," said Boutros Boutros, Emirates' Divisional Senior Vice President Corporate Communications.
"We were behind Jane for her win in London and will support her again as she goes on to compete, and no doubt win, in Beijing."
Jane will next focus on the World Title at the ITU World Championships in Beijing this September.
"Being able to race at world championship level is a dream come true for me and I am feeling strong after my win in London.
"I am very fortunate to be surrounded by a supportive family and friends, great training partners and an amazing coach," Westley remarked.
