Abu Dhabi: The Emirates Ice Hockey Association (EIHA) celebrated the end of its season by honouring the Abu Dhabi Storms, the winner of the Emirates Hockey League (EHL) and the season's best players.

The event, organised under the patronage of, Dr Ahmad Mubarak Al Mazroui, Chairman of UAE Ice Hockey Association, was held at Park Rotana Hotel.

Hamel Al Qubaisi, the Vice Chairman of the EIHA, praised the teams and players for their achievements in the EHL this season.

Unlimited support

Al Qubaisi also thanked all the partners who helped the EHL achieve a successful season, in particular the General Authority for Youth and Sports Welfare and the Abu Dhabi Sports Council.

Ali Kaddass Al Rumaithi, Director of the EHL, talked about the great success of the season and the unlimited support and efforts of Al Mazroui in spreading and improving the game.

Al Rumaithi also congratulated Storms and the season's best players for their hard work.

The EIHA also launched the new logo of the EHL.

Aside from the Storms, those honoured were Ron Murphy of the Dubai Mighty Camels who was named Most Valuable Player; Vitali Sauko of the Theebs who was Best Defender and Matthew Jones of the Mighty Camels who was named Best Goalie.

Outstanding players from each team were also given recognition, such as Murphy and Joni Hallkainen of the Storms, Ryan Hornblower of the Scorpions, Sauko of the Theebs and Janne Lehtosalo of the Al Ain Vipers.
