Arendal, Norway: Heavy rains washed out qualifying for Sunday's BMW Norwegian Grand Prix forcing Class 1 World Powerboat Championship.
The bad weather forced organisers to reschedule pole position qualification.
Although several of the ten-strong field battled for a place at the front of the grid during the aborted session, two un-seasonal storms reduced visibility and forced the fleet back to the pits.
The crews will return to the water today with the times set in the final pre-race testing session determining the starting order for the fourth round of the world championship.
Despite none of the recorded times counting towards qualifying, Team Qatar's Shaikh Hassan Bin Jabor Al Thani and Steve Curtis set the best lap time of 3 minutes, 19.92 seconds, which was over three seconds quicker than World Championship leaders Nadir Bin Hindi and Mohammad Al Merri.
Also looking impressive through the fjords were home favourites Inge Brigt Aarbakke and Jorn Tandberg in Jotun 90.
Meanwhile the young Australian and Norwegian pairing of Tom Barry-Cotter and Pal Virik Nilsen made a welcome return to the Class 1 campaign in their Tencara cat Maritimo 20.
But with the weather causing havoc not all of the competing crews managed to get enough laps on the clock leaving tens of thousands of race fans both wet and disappointed.
