Dubai: Eisa Darwish, the Fifa assistant referee who officiated in the World Cup Finals in Germany 2006, has said he will be fit and ready for the new professional league next month.
"I stopped refereeing at the middle of last season due to a misunderstanding with the former referees committee, but now I am with my colleagues leaving for the referees training camp in Hungary," Darwish told Gulf News.
He said the coming season will be tough due to the implementation of the professional league.
"It will be the first time in the UAE to play a professional league. I think players, coaches and administrators have to change their behaviour and behave as real professionals.
Ugly behaviour
"Protesting against referees, shouting at them, playing rough fouls deliberately on opponents to injury them and preventing them from playing for long periods, all these ugly behaviours are unacceptable and have to disappear in the professional league."
Meanwhile, 58 of the UAE referees left for Hungary for their annual three week training camp.
"The training camp which is organised by the Football Association and the referees committee is very helpful for the referees. We are just like clubs who also make training camps in Europe. We do fitness training morning and afternoon and officiate in friendly matches for second and third division Hungarian clubs," Darwish concluded.
