Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah: Top officials, intellectuals and well-wishers continued to pay tribute for Ameera Bin Karam on Sunday.

The UAE Businesswomen Council mourned the death of Bin Karam, who died after a fire that erupted in her villa on Saturday

“During her service, Ameera contributed to empowering and strengthening the economic status of women. She was a role model of a working citizen who attaches utmost importance to the interests of the country. She never hesitated to work and never spared any effort to give or fulfil achievements, Mariam Mohammad Al Rumaithi, chairwoman of the Emirates Business Women Council, said,

Bin Karam had set an example for creative, innovative and successful women in all tasks assigned to her, especially in the humanitarian, economic and social campaigns that she led. She had a profound impact on the international level, Al Rumaithi added.

Bin Karam was a successful businesswoman, unique leader, and rich personality who was bent on giving and sacrificing for the sake of the country, she added.

Al Rumaithi extended her condolences to Shaikha Jawaher Bint Mohammad Al Qasimi, wife of His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, from whom the deceased learnt noble values and persistence.

Many also expressed heart-felt condolences to the family of Bin Karam through their Twitter accounts, also highlighting her contributions to UAE society.

Rashid Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, chairman of Ajman Municipality and Planning Department and the son of His Highness Shaikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ajman, tweeted on his account @Rashidbinhumaid: “Ameera Bin Karam was very active in humanitarian work. She devoted herself for voluntary work, cancer patients and needy people. I ask Allah to bestow mercy upon her and her family.”

Also, Mona Ganem Al Merri, director-general of the Dubai Media Office and chairman of Dubai Press Club, retweeted on her account @malmarri: “Today we lost a woman who has contributed in empowering women and strengthening their position in society.”

Abdulkhaleq Abdullah, a professor of political science, tweeted from @abdulkhaleq_UAE describing Bin Karam as an energetic and hard-working individual. “It is with great sadness and sorrow that we have lost Ameer Bin Karam, 38. May she rest in peace. We belong to God and to God we shall return.”

Dr Ali Al Nuaimi, @Dralnoaimi, vice-chancellor of UAE University, said, “May God bless Ameera, her mother and her sister’s souls and grant them a place in paradise. We pray to God for her brother’s fast recovery,” he said.

Yousuf Al Taweel, Founder and CEO of National Network Communications, @Yousefaltaweel, said: “You filled the world with love and hope. You were a sister, a colleague and a friend. Rest in peace.”

Singer Hussain Al Jasmi, @7sainaljassmi, also joined in to express his condolences. “The pain of our loss is very big. We belong to God and to God we shall return.”

Singer Fayez Al Saeed, @Fayezofficial, said, “We belong to God and to God we shall return. God give their family patience to bear with the loss.”

Well-wishers from other GCC countries also tweeted about Bin Karam. Mohammad Khalid, a former member of the Bahraini parliament, @boammar, said: “Our condolences to the UAE on the loss of the chairperson of the Sharjah Business Women Council, Ameera Bin Karam and her mother and sister after the fire that burnt through their home in Sharjah.”
