Dubai: A woman has lodged a civil lawsuit against a singer, who is accused of raping her in his villa while she was drunk.
The 19-year-old French woman, who was left naked and unconscious on a pavement in Al Barhsa, is seeking Dh21,000 in temporary compensation in the lawsuit that her lawyer lodged before the Dubai Court of First Instance on Sunday.
The 34-year-old Emirati singer’s 23-year-old friend was also charged with molesting her in July 2013.
The two Emirati suspects pleaded not guilty before presiding judge Maher Salama Al Mahdi.
The woman told prosecutors that the Emirati singer’s friend met her on the open beach at Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR) at around 4pm.
In her statement, she claimed that a Syrian man was also present. They invited her to a party at the singer’s villa where they drank alcohol.
“I blacked out and woke up in hospital where I realised that I had been raped. I had bruises on my neck and right arm ... the doctor who examined me told me that I had lost my virginity,” the victim said.
Meanwhile the defendants’ lawyers asked for the court to adjourn.
A police sergeant, who lived nearby, was said to have discovered the half-naked woman while exercising at 6.30am.
A police lieutenant, who questioned the 23-year-old suspect, said the latter admitted that he had consensual sex with her at the villa.
The trial continues.
