Sharjah: Two men were arrested in Sharjah on Saturday for selling and promoting firecrackers from their car.

They have been referred to the public prosecutor.

A.G.D. and A.K.A. from the Comoros Islands were arrested as part of Sharjah Police’s efforts to keep the public, especially children, safe.

Sharjah Police received a phone call from a member of the public early Saturday morning, saying that men were selling firecrackers out of a white car in Al Mulaiha.

A police patrol found the vehicle and arrested the men and seized the firecrackers.

One of the men said he had such a huge amount of firecrackers because he was going to use them to celebrate his birthday.

Colonel Arif Mohammad Al Shamsi, Director of the Central District of Sharjah Police, commended the cooperation between the police and the public in reporting such incidents.

He urged the public to report any harmful or potentially dangerous practices to the police.

Parents, he said should also educate their children about the dangers of fireworks as they can lead to injuries that can cause disabilities or even death.
