Pristina, Kosovo: The Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Hospital has opened in the city of Vushtrri, in the northern part of Kosovo, at a cost of €7 million (Dh27.35 million).
The hospital is equipped with the latest in medical technology and was funded by the Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation. It covers 5,200 square metres and includes 72 beds, a maternity unit, radiology and laboratory departments, a dental clinic, an intensive care unit and an ER.
In a speech on the occasion, Kosovo’s Prime Minister Eisa Mustafa expressed his thanks and appreciation to the UAE for its continuous support of his country, and said that the hospital is the largest project to be completed in Kosovo’s public health sector since the war ended in 1999.
The prime minister also said that the project symbolises the strength of UAE-Kosovo friendship relations.
Also speaking during the inauguration, Hafsa Al Ulama, UAE Ambassador to the Republic of Montenegro and Non-resident Ambassador to the Republic of Kosovo, expressed her delight at the completion of the project, which will provide medical services to all in Kosovo, and thanked the Khalifa Bin Zayed Foundation for the generous donation.
“The UAE has always been and will continue to be a strong supporter of humanitarian work in Kosovo,” she said.
