Casablanca: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and King Mohammad of Morocco inaugurated on Tuesday the Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Hospital in Casablanca. The hospital was built by the Khalifa Bin Zayed Foundation (KBZF).

On their arrival at the hospital, King Mohammad and Shaikh Mohammad were welcomed by Al Houssaine Louardi, Moroccan Health Minister, Mohammad Haji Khoury, Director of KBZF, and top managers of the hospital and senior Moroccan officials.

After the unveiling of a plaque, King Mohammad and Shaikh Mohammad viewed the hospital’s model and heard a brief presentation on phases of construction of the project.

Hospital officials said the health facility seeks to become a premier provider of world-class, high-quality health-care services in Morocco and North Africa.

King Mohammad and Shaikh Mohammad then toured the hospital’s wards and sections.

Shaikh Mohammad said that instructions given by President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan to build this massive hospital reflect the depth of the fraternal ties between the UAE and Morocco.

He expressed the hope that the hospital would contribute to providing world-class health and therapeutic services to the Moroccans, as well as patients in neighbouring African countries. Stretching over 65,000 hectares and with a total capacity of 205 beds and manpower of 130 doctors and 740 nursing staff, the four-storey hospital houses 46 consulting rooms, 85 diagnosis and treatment rooms and eight operating rooms.

The hospital seeks to become a major player in medical research and staff training thanks to a partnership with the Mohammad VI University for Health Science.

Attending the opening ceremony were Prince Moulay Rachid, Shaikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in the Western Region, Lieutenant General Shaikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, Shaikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister, Dr Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of State and CEO of Masdar, and a number of senior officials.
