DUBAI

Shaikh Ahmad Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation and chairman of the Dubai Airport Freezone Authority (DAFZA), launched ‘DAFZA’s Strategy for Islamic Economy’ yesterday, focusing on strategic initiatives involving the Islamic economy and halal sectors.

DAFZA said in a statement that strategy would help attract more foreign direct investment (FDI) to the sector and support the ‘Dubai — Capital of Islamic Economy’ initiative.

The plan consists of three main directions and 20 strategic initiatives, set to be implemented within the coming five years, to help achieve Dubai’s vision of increasing the value of the Islamic economy, and provide a competitive advantage to DAFZA.

Shaikh Ahmad said in a separate statement that DAFZA’s Strategy for Islamic Economy is a response to Dubai’s Capital of Islamic Economy initiative launched by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

He said that it has developmental perspectives and drives the national economy towards prosperity and sustainability.

The DAFZA chairman affirmed his belief in DAFZA’s high level of competitiveness which ensures the best results in all the freezone’s practical works to enable it to become among the most advanced freezones in the world.

He emphasised the importance of the strategy in light of the rapid local and global growth of the Islamic economy, especially after the UAE was ranked first in the Arab World and second globally in the Global Islamic Economy Indicator.
