Actors Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan hosted the second segment of the 23rdStar Screen Awards in Mumbai on Sunday night.

“This is the way we are normally also. It’s nice to have extended it. We really had fun,” Shah Rukh said later.

Salman added, “It was really good fun. The theme [of the event] is friendship, so who better than him and me to host it?”

When asked if Aamir Khan would join as a show host next year, Shah Rukh joked the Dhoom 3 actor doesn’t attend such shows.

Shah Rukh, 51, and Salman, 50, have had their ups and downs over the years, but the latter said sometimes their “fights” were blown out of proportion by the media.

“It [disagreement] happens with everyone, just what happened with us, but so much of fuss was created around that. We had no contribution in that, it was [pointing at the media] and some loved ones, too.”

The show’s first segment was hosted by Karan Johar and Karan Singh Grover.

Shoojit Sircar’s critically-acclaimed Pink bagged four awards including for Best Film at the show.

While Amitabh Bachchan received the Best Actor award for the film, Aditya Bannerji got the Best Editing award and Ritesh Shah got the Best Dialogue award for the film.

Actress Alia Bhatt received the best actress award for Udta Punjab.

Meanwhile, Rekha was given the Lifetime achievement award. Actress Sonam Kapoor did a performance honouring Rekha and the veteran actress enthralled the audience with a performance on a popular old song.

The Critics Choice For Best Actor award went to Sushant Singh Rajput for M.S. Dhoni — The Untold Story and the Critics Choice For Best Actress went to Swara Bhaskar for Nil Battey Sannata.

Several Bollywood celebrities attended the event including Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Kriti Sanon, Bipasha Basu, Harshvardhan Kapoor, Huma Quereshi and Divya Khosla Kumar.

Shah Rukh said he was happy with the response to his latest film, Dear Zindagi, where he plays unconventional therapist to Bhatt’s bidding cinematographer. Gauri Shinde helmed Dear Zindagi. “I am happy the film has turned out well. It’s Gauri Shinde and Bhatt’s film. I am a small part of it. I had to make sure I stand up to their expectations and I am very happy I could do that,” he told reporters.

The actor is also excited about his upcoming movie, Raaes, directed by Rahul Dholakia. The film is set to release on January 26.

“The trailer will be out on December 7. Hopefully everyone will like it. I hope everyone will like the film as well,” he added.
