Sharjah: Following the recent power crisis, the Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority (Sewa) is studying ways to develop the water and energy sector in the emirate.
As part of these efforts, Dr Rashid Al Leem, Sewa chairman, confirmed a partnership with international engineering company Tractebel Engineering to improve energy and water projects in Sharjah.
“We look forward to developing and enhancing Sewa’s work, especially as it has the support and attention of His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, who provides it with all the requirements to achieve growth and prosperity for the citizens and residents,” Al Leem said.
He also pointed out that in the last three months, Sewa has been able to attract major international companies to cooperate with it in development plans using the latest technologies and expertise.
Sewa last month launched a new initiative called ‘We are at your service’ designed to facilitate communication with residents, especially during the Eid holidays.
Sewa is undergoing a comprehensive restructuring and development in various sectors to provide services as per international standards.
Residents in the past have complained about frequent power shutdowns and not being given sufficient advance notice. Sewa is now working to ensure that residents are informed through circulars about periodic maintenance that may require shutdowns.
