Abu Dhabi: A celebration was held on Friday at the Grandstand of Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre under the patronage of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan to mark the 45th UAE National Day.

Those who attended the celebration included His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai; His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces; His Highness Shaikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman; His Highness Shaikh Hamad Bin Mohammad Al Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah; His Highness Shaikh Saud Bin Rashid Al Mu’alla, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Umm Al Quwain, and His Highness Shaikh Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah.

Also present were Francois Hollande, President of France, and Abdul Fattah Al Sisi, President of Egypt.

Earlier in the day, Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince attended the National Day celebrations at Abu Dhabi corniche along with Prince Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah; Shaikh Ammar Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman; Shaikh Mohammad Bin Hamad Bin Mohammad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah; Shaikh Rashid Bin Saud Bin Rashid Al Mualla, Crown Prince of Umm Al Quwain, and Shaikh Mohammad Bin Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Crown Prince of Ras Al Khaimah.

Speaking on the occasion, Shaikh Hazza Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Council said, “National Day celebrations embody the unity of all Emiratis. It is a glorious occasion to remember the UAE’s founding fathers when they raised the UAE flag ushering in the dream of union that turned into reality.

Shaikh Hazza greeted President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum and His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan on the occasion of National Day.

French President Francois Hollande arrived in the UAE to participate in the conference on Safeguarding Endangered Cultural Heritage, which began at the Emirates Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi on Friday.

Upon arrival at the Presidential Airport, Hollande and members of the accompanying delegation were welcomed by Noura Bint Mohammad Al Kaabi, Minister of State for Federal National Council Affairs, Madhed Hareb Al Khaiili, the UAE Ambassador to France, and other officials.

An official reception was held for the French President at the airport where he also inspected a guard of honour.

Egyptian President Abdul Fattah Al Sissi on Friday visited Abu Dhabi’s Wahat Al Karama Memorial, built to commemorate the UAE martyrs and their sacrifices to defend the country and its achievements. He was accompanied by Shaikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and Shaikh Khalifa Bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Director of the Martyrs’ Families’ Affairs Office of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince.
