Dubai: UAE’s two leading universities will work together with the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) to create innovative robotic and drone solutions in the mobility sector, the RTA announced on Saturday.

RTA signed two separate Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) with Khalifa University and the University of Dubai that will enable the three entities explore ways of cooperating in the field of robotics and drone technology.

According to Abdullah Al Madani, CEO of Corporate Technology Support Services Sector at the RTA, the step is part of the authority’s efforts to keep pace with the latest technological trends, share expertise with academic institutions, and provide sophisticated services that cover various community segments.

The initiatives conform to Dubai Government’s endeavours of making Dubai among the smartest cities in the world.

The MoUs provide for undertaking a variety of activities such as holding joint workshops, training and qualifying personnel, holding scientific conferences and symposia, and sharing academic and practical expertise in matters related to robots, drones and other fields of technology.

According to the MoUs, each party will supply the other with information to assist it to carry out its respective jobs and realise its objectives in the public interest.
