Dubai: The Roads and Transport Authority’s Licensing Agency has carried out 117 inspection processes over four days targeting driving institutes and centres, which netted 25 offences.

The campaign aimed at measuring the compliance of driving institutes with the applicable rules and training modules of night lessons for drivers under training. It also aimed at verifying the compliance of instructors with the correct recording of the training details in the training cards.

However, the RTA’s statement on Wednesday did not provide details on the offences.

It comes in line with a series of campaigns where the “RTA is always keen to carry out targeting driving learning field with the aim of verifying compliance with the approved rules and training modules”, said Mohammad Nabhan, director of monitoring and enforcement, RTA’s Licensing Agency.

“The inspection processes focused on Emirates Driving Institute, Belhasa Driving Institute, Al Ahli Driving Institute, Dubai Driving Institute, Galadari Driving Institute and Dubai International Driving Centre. The inspection campaigns paved the way for developing improvement plans which will be initiated and monitored in the near future.”

He added: “Work is in full swing to upgrade the online link between driving institutes and RTA’s licensing systems such that auditing can be done online, where it could be possible to verify the commitment of trainees to taking the prescribed training lessons as per the applicable systems. This exercise would save time and effort of the parties concerned, and accelerate the procedures of providing the information required from training centres.”
