Dubai: The Roads and Transport Authority will inaugurate the Trade Centre’s Bridges Project on Tuesday after construction work on the Dh700 million project was completed.

The RTA has also completed a pedestrian bridge near the Dubai World Trade Centre which is 92 metres long, and is characterised by the presence of two electric elevators in each direction to accommodate the large numbers of visitors to the centre.

Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman and Executive Director of the Authority said that the project will provide the direct movement of traffic from Al Khail Street, near the Dubai World Trade Centre, towards Shaikh Rashid Road and from there towards the Al Garhoud and Al Maktoum bridges, and Oud Metha Road and in reverse from Shaikh Rashid Road to the first Al Khail Street and from there to parallel roads that pass through the area of Burj Khalifa.

Al Tayer also clarified that the Trade Centre Bridges project is one of the largest and most important stages of the parallel roads project, which is one of the largest road projects implemented by the RTA and aims to connect the western parallel road with the Shaikh Rashid Bin Saeed Road to Al Khail Street in front of the Dubai World Trade Centre.

It also serves the traffic in the opposite direction of the first Al Khail Street to both Al Maktoum and Garhoud bridges and Dubai-Al Ain Road.

The project is designated to improve the traffic signals at the trade centre intersection, infrastructure and lighting works.

The project included the establishment of 22 bridges made up of prefabricated concrete units, 4,250 metres long, with a two-lane capacity in each direction, in addition to a concrete bridge 120 metres long which has been added to serve the movement towards Al Maktoum Bridge.
