Bollywood actors Richa Chadha and Nikhil Dwivedi, who are playing absconded inmates in their upcoming film Tamanchey, on Monday visited Tihar jail and interacted with inmates on the occasion of Eid Al Adha.

The duo came to the jail on the request of jail authorities to make Eid special for the inmates of jail number one.

Tihar jail’s music band also performed with the actors.

“The kind of creativity you display in such circumstances is a source of inspiration for artists like us. We’ll keep entertaining you at our best and we hope all of you get out of here as soon as possible,” Chadha said.

The duo also gifted the music CD of Tamanchey to the Tihar music band.

Tihar jail DIG (deputy inspector general) Mukesh Prasad, jail superintendent Rajesh Chauhan and other senior officials were also present at the event.

Thanking the stars for accepting the invitation, Chauhan said: “We welcome these artists who have come all the way from Mumbai on our request.”

Prasad also thanked the actors and appreciated the inmates’ initiative. “It was an attempt to reduce depression among inmates. These events help in creating a better, positive and joyous environment for inmates,” Chauhan said.

Dwivedi, who is playing the male lead in Tamanchey, said: “We would look forward to visit this amazing place again, but we hope we don’t see all of you here again. We pray to God that you get back with your families as soon as possible. It is easy to portray life of an inmate on screen but I can feel how difficult it is for you people to stay away from your loved ones.”

The stars were presented with mementoes from Tihar jail.
