Cairo: The chairman of an emergency Arab League meeting said a decision by the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court to charge Sudan's president with genocide and war crimes is setting a dangerous precedent.
Djibouti Foreign Minister Chairman Mahmoud Ali Yousuf said the 10 charges against President Omar Al Bashir will have dangerous repercussions for the entire region.
"The indictment is a dangerous precedent in dealing with heads of state. It will have dangerous repercussions, not only on Sudan but on the whole region," he said.
Al Yousuf's comments came as the 22-member Arab League held a one-day meeting on Saturday to discuss the charges.
