Khartoum: At least 60 heavily armed men ambushed a patrol of United Nations (UN) and African Union peacekeepers in Darfur, the UN said on Friday.
Men armed with rifles, machine guns and rocket-propelled grenades disarmed the Nigerian troops from the joint UN/African Union Mission in Darfur (Unamid).
It was the fifth serious confrontation between armed groups and Unamid troops this year.
Unamid spokesman Nouredding Mezni said they were still trying to identify the attackers and were trying to get more information about the latest attack.
"The peacekeepers were outnumbered...No shots were fired and no one was injured," Mezni said.
