Tehran: A moderate earthquake has rattled a remote northwestern province in Iran on Sunday, reported an Iranian radio station.
The quake hit the district of Hasahtjin, some 600 kilometers (370 miles) northwest of the capital of Tehran, in the mid afternoon.
The quake measured 5.0 on the Richter scale. There were no immediate reports of injuries.
Iran is located on several seismic fault lines and is prone to earthquakes. It gets at least one slight quake on average every day.
