Dubai: Al Wahda coach Larentiu Reghecampf wants his side to show greater killer instinct following a 2-1 win away to Al Nasr in the second round of Arabian Gulf League fixtures on Friday.

Mohammad Al Shehhi put the Clarets ahead from a scrambled corner on 10 minutes, but Marcelo Cirino pulled one back with seven minutes remaining and it was only Mourad Batna’s stoppage-time winner that ensured full points for them.

“It is very difficult to play against us,” said Romanian Reghecampf, whose league-leaders opened with a 5-0 win at home to Dibba last week. “But we have to do more things in the game, like learning to deal with being 1-0 up and quickly scoring the second.

“We had so many chances to score and it was easy for us to close the game. We have to try and manage this part of the game better.

“That said I’m happy with the result. I don’t speak about championships or trophies,” he added of his team’s bright start and early contention. “I think we have our level and we have to see from game to game [how we can do].”

Al Wahda play Al Dhafra at home next week. “I hope to have all my players in the team like Balazs Dzsudzsak [injured]. We have one week to prepare.”

Meanwhile, Al Nasr coach Cesare Prandelli, who is still without a win from the first two games of the season, following a goalless draw away to Sharjah last week, told his players to keep trying.

“We shouldn’t keep our heads down, we played against a team that’s been together a long time, they were very organised, but despite that we played well, so we have to keep our heads up and go on. We need to continue to work hard because we are on the right path.”

Al Nasr are next away to defending champions Al Jazira, who followed up an opening 2-1 home win over Ajman with a 1-0 defeat away to Dibba on Friday.

“Pressure is part of our job and during games we need to be more careful,” said Prandelli. “But the league is very long and there is space for us to come back so we need to continue in this direction and our time will come soon.”

Khalifa Al Shayary scored the game’s only goal on 55 minutes in Dibba’s shock 1-0 win over Al Jazira.
