Who: Nick Robinson
What: Radio 1 Presenter
Hailing from Auckland, New Zealand. Nick has always been the most musical person in his family (he is also the only member of his family with teeth). He plays a multitude of instruments from the standard guitar, bass and drums to the more obscure chapman stick, tiddlydiddlypop and the Kazoo.
He spent many years performing around the clubs and venues of New Zealand, before deciding one day that he was actually a terrible musician and gave it all up to be on the radio.
Nick is an extraordinary quoits player, winning the New Zealand Quoits championship 12 years running. He also has a penchant for facebook hacking and rich mahogany.
He thoroughly enjoys cups of tea, long romantic walks to the barber shop, rugby, sheep and juicy fruit chewing gum.
What does music mean to you?
Music is a huge part of my life as a failed musician, I learnt to play the trombone in the womb, and I am also proficient in the Bassoon, the Lute, Kettle Drums and Jazz flute…. and give me a pair of spoons and I’ll rock your world!
Do you have any hidden talents?
Of course I do!! But if I told you they wouldn’t be hidden would they?!
If you had to choose a movie title for your life story, what would it be?
Meatballs…appropriate in so many ways
If you could have any super-power, what would it be?
Hmmmm….any state with a dominant position in the international system which has the ability to influence events and its own interests…. that or teleportation.
What do you think is the greatest invention in your lifetime and why?
Facebook…because it has changed the world…. actually can I have two? ‘Cause I think Smint Mints changed the world too-- they’ve been helping ugly dudes get kisses for years!
