Abu Dhabi: French president Francois Hollande made a phone call on Friday to His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, during which they discussed enhancing of ties in the best interests of the two countries.

While reviewing cultural and educational co-operation, Shaikh Mohammad and President Hollande discussed arrangements for holding the international conference on safeguarding endangered cultural heritage, which Abu Dhabi will host next December.

The two leaders took stock of the latest regional and international developments, particularly the ongoing war against terrorist organisations and efforts being made by the UAE and France in that respect. The two sides affirmed the importance of safeguards for protecting the civilian population and ensuring their safety and of preserving valuable human and historic legacy from destruction.

The two sides tackled the strategic partnership between the UAE and France on strengthening security and stability in the region.

They also exchanged views on a variety of issues of mutual interest.
