Abu Dhabi: The bodies of two Emirati military personnel reported by state authorities to have died in a military plane crash in Egypt on Wednesday, were to be repatriated to the UAE late on Thursday.

Funeral services were held in Egypt before the bodies were flown home, a source told Gulf News yesterday. It’s not known whether another memorial service will be held in the UAE to honour the fallen armed forces personnel when their bodies are back in the country. The names of the men were not released.

Military plane crash

A report by WAM said the two UAE men died when a military aircraft crashed claiming four lives. The other two dead were reported to be Egyptian.

Mohammad Bin Nukhaira Al Dahiri, UAE Ambassador in Cairo and its permanent representative to the Arab League and Egypt’s Minister of Defence Sedki Sobhy attended the funeral.

Al Dahiri also participated in the funeral prayers for the souls of the martyrs of the UAE, Saif Khalaf Saif Al Zuabi and Abdullah Ali Al Hamoudi and the Arab Republic of Egypt’s martyrs at Egypt’s Almaza military airport.
