Special prayers during Ramadan
People from various walks of life gather in mosques every evening in Ramadan to perform Taraweeh prayers. They are special evening prayers performed during Ramadan after the Isha prayers. As they are lengthy, long portions of the Quran are recited. Taraweeh prayers could range from as short as eight raka’a to as long as 22 raka’a. They are held in congregation in mosques but can also be done at home, in groups or individually. Chief Photographers Javed Nawab and Abdul Rahman offer a glimpse.
