I don't think Michelle Obama should be on the list. Obama is a product of the media and his wife is only a conjuncture of the political game.

A reader has said Angelina Jolie should not be a part of this list. I disagree. She did not "steal somebody's husband". The person she is referring to made his choice. The reader goes on to saying you can adopt as many children as you want if you were rich. But, have others done the same? Angelina Jolie thought enough for these children to gave them a home, a family and a better life. It is not about hiring nannies for children, but in fact caring for another life. Many of us have trouble caring for our own children. Jolie's love for her adopted children hasn't reduced even after she had three biological children. That says a lot about her. Apart from that, she is a goodwill ambassador for the UN and has done a lot to help refugees. I think she has made a difference and definitely deserves to be on this list of "Saluting the spirit of women".

I feel the list is not at all comparable , all the first lady has the support of their men to do the services. Consideration to be given to those women who has no support and has to face this bad world on her own.

Angenlina Jolie should not be on this list. There are amazing women who are pure and brave and they deserve all honour and praise. A woman takes somebody's husband away should not be honoured. Not even if she adopts 20 children. That is not very difficult to do anyway when you are a millionaire and you can hire 20 nannies for 6 children.

All the women listed above have in one way or another made a difference in society. Some have spoken up for women's rights, while others have helped others learn from their own mistakes. But, I personally think out of all the women in this picture gallery, Mukhtar Mai has to be the most inspiring one. Having been a victim of gang rape, one would expect her to give up. In most cases, women who have been raped do not speak up, either to protect their own dignity, or because they are afraid of their attacker. Mukhtar Mai, however, decided to challenge her attackers. I am amazed by her spirit and determination. She is also teaching young girls about women's rights and gender issues. Educating female students, to me, seems like one of the best deeds you could do. The girls would grow up to be educated mothers, who can then pass on their knowledge to their children.
