Performing Umrah in pictures
Makkah is one of the three holy places for Muslims, as it is the centre point to which they take their journey during Haj and Umrah. It is a destination that is revered by the millions as it holds the Ka'aba - the direction towards which Muslims face whenever they pray. Chief photographer Asghar Khan, who performed Umrah in July, 2009, has captured in these photos the essence of some of the most spiritual moments that a pilgrim experiences in the holy city.
