In pictures: Arab Spring shot wins top award
Spanish photographer Samuel Aranda won the 2011 World Press Photo of the Year award for “Arab Spring” on Friday for an image of a veiled woman holding a wounded relative in her arms after a demonstration in Yemen. Aranda’s photo taken on October 15 also took first place in the “People in the News Singles” category. He will receive a cash prize of €10,000 (Dh48,417) at a ceremony later this year.
