A day to remember the great leader

Starting this year, Ramadan 19 will be a special day for the country as the UAE will be commemorating the death anniversary of Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the nation’s founding father, on this day.
For people in the UAE, and wherever his hand of support reached around the world, Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan (1918-2004) will be greatly missed. The man, who was the driving force in the formation of United Arab Emirates (UAE), will always hold a special place in the hearts of people.
"Shaikh Zayed was a great nation-builder and remains a role model for his people and the entire Arab world," one reader commented. Despite being the president of a wealthy nation, the great leader is known to have led a simple life, close to nature.
He demonstrated a strong commitment in providing health, education and other facilities to all segments of society and also utilised revenue from oil to develop schools and universities and hospitals.
