Marking Hiroshima Day

Marking exactly 63 years since the world's first atomic bombing on the Japanese city of Hiroshima.

  • Hiroshima Day is observed on August 6 in many parts of the world with special vigils and peace marches. School boys and girls stand in front of the Atomic Dome to hold paper lanterns to pray for peace. The dome was one of the few buildings left standing within a two kilometre radius of the explosion.
