Muslims started the performance of itikaf (seclusion) in 4,750 mosques around the country which will remain open around the clock. Itikaf is a ritual initiated by the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) in the last ten days of Ramadan to seek the observance of Laylat Al Qadr (The Night of Power), in which the performance of a good deed is multiplied by good works of 1,000 months. During this time thousands of Muslims spend the whole of their days and nights or part of their nights at mosques offering prayers.
