Expendables 2: Return of the real action heroes
If the stars of new action flick Expendables 2, out this Thursday in the UAE, were to have assembled about 20 years ago, it would have smoked the box office. But then it’s been 22 years since Sylvester Stallone fifth Rocky film, 25 since Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Predator, 23 since Jean-Claude Van Damme’s genre-defining Kickboxer and another 25 since Dolph Lundgren captured the collective imagination of teenagers as He-Man in Masters of the Universe. Still, to the child of the ‘80s, the reunion of these action stars is probably the stuff fantasy star line-ups are made of. Only this time, its real. Here’s a look back at some of the film’s action stars of yore who are all set to blow up the box office this weekend.
