Muscat: The ‘Traits of Oman ‘ photo exhibition, which includes a large number of pictures taken for media in Oman between 1970 and 1980, is a major attraction among the Omani Journalism and Media Week activities being held at the Oman International Exhibition Centre in Seeb suburb of Muscat.

About 25 media institutions in Oman are taking part in the Omani Journalism Association-organised event that ends tomorrow.

Former Information Minister Abdul Aziz Bin Mohammad Al Rowas, who is now the Sultan’s Adviser for Cultural Affairs, was the chief guest at the opening on Sunday. According to a report by the Oman News Agency, the chief guest said that the challenges that faced the Omani media and the efforts that were made to combat such challenges proved that nothing was “impossible”.

Awadh Bin Saeed Baquwair, chairman of the Omani Journalists Association, said that the events of the week will include discussions on the different challenges facing the Omani media in general and developing a new vision for the Omani media that would meet the needs and aspirations of the Omani society.

Those who served Omani media between 1970 and 80 were honoured on the opening day.
