Dubai: The Dubai Healthcare City registered more than 600,000 patient visits at its centres in the first half of this year and the number is expected to touch the 1.2 million mark by the end of this year.

In 2013 DHCC recorded visits of a million patients.

This was revealed in the first operating review by the DHCC updating the market on its performance.

Besides this figure, DHCC posted a host of successful milestones achieved until June which include the opening of new health centres and clinics, new enrolment at its dental college and training of health-care professionals.

Commenting on this voluminous growth, Raja Eisa Al Gurg, Deputy Chairperson of the Board of Directors of DHCC, said: “The health-care sector is witnessing an expanding growth paradigm, especially regionally. The growth in population and income levels, in addition to the mandatory insurance roll-out will push for regulation which, in turn, will result in an elevated level of health-care delivery. DHCC is well positioned to weigh in on these trends and contribute to Dubai’s position as a destination for specialised health care.”

Marwan Abedin, Chief Executive Officer of DHCC, said: “Through our partnerships with some of the leading international and regional players in the health-care sector, we are recognised as the largest health-care free zone delivering specialised health care. In the first half of this year, we have developed strategic partnerships, launched new projects and expansions, advanced work on existing projects and delivered health-care services to patients at the highest standards possible.”
