The landslide triumph of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) that has triggered waves of happiness and surprise throughout the country must be seen as the victory of the aspirations of the common man to see a corruption-free governance at least in the capital.
With great expectations, India had voted into power Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi hoping that as the new PM of India, he will be able to perform at the same competence and efficiency as he had functioned in his position as Chief Minster. However, apart from the intolerance of other communities and destruction of their places of worship, nothing else has flourished during the past six months. The nation had miscalculated that his first move would be to prove his honest intentions for a corruption-free government by introducing the Lok Pal Bill that the previous Congress government had delayed and successfully averted to save their people.
But surprisingly, until today, Modi has not even uttered a word about the Lok Pal Bill that was eagerly expected by the entire nation. He has focused more on the same old showmanship of oratory skills and the cosmetic stuff practiced by his predecessors, such as bringing in foreign investments, fully realising that all the money diverted for such good and noble development works, would only get submerged in the quicksand of corruption, that happily thrives and flourishes at all levels of the central and state governments.
It is evident that the first step of the new Chief Minister in Delhi will be to introduce the genuine and undiluted anti-corruption bill, and that by itself will trigger and propel the wheel of development. Hence, first he will be focusing on laying down this strong foundation, so as to ensure that all development works built over this strong basement of a disciplined and honest bureaucracy, would henceforth yield the desired results.
Arvind Kejriwal is going to make his record as the first ever leader to acknowledge and challenge the hitherto unchallenged corrupt practices of our government officials, who until now have peacefully enjoyed and shared their booties with the politicians and ministers. Hope, an astute politician as Modi will have the wisdom and foresight to protect the reputation of the already humiliated Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) by not throwing thorns and obstacles to thwart the noble aspirations of Kejriwal.
The Congress that killed the previous AAP government has been severely punished by being denied even a single seat. Hope the BJP leadership would take it as a lesson and support the AAP in its most constructive and positive aspirations, for a better nation.
