Irrelevant
I’m very disappointed by a whole From The Cover report on a nonsensical tweet war between Indian actress Deepika Padukone and Times of India (“Ethics in focus after Padukone’s outburst”, Gulf News, September 16). It did not need to be highlighted as a front page story at all. Please don’t make Gulf News a Bollywood-centric newspaper.

Gulf News has always used the opportunity to raise debate in society, as that helps raise transparency and accountability in society. The report was done to highlight the code of journalistic ethics and look at how media handles these issues globally.

Picture choice
I was amused to see the front page of the Business section recently, with a picture of finance ministers of G-20 countries and the head of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), looking happy and gleeful (“Finance chiefs say global economy faces new risks”, Gulf News, September 21). Alongside, the headline said that these very same people have announced that the global economy faces new risks and the outlook has become more negative, with signs of deflation looming. I wonder what they are so happy about, then?

Thank you for the feedback. However, the picture depicts that the leaders are keeping a smiling face in the wake of adversity, which signals the way forward.
Gulf News
Gulf News used to publish the weather and the time of sunrise. However, now it isn’t published anymore. I’ve been reading the paper for 30 years and would take a look at the weather section every day. Now, I’ve had to rely on other newspapers for this information and I’m not happy about that. Could you please let your readers know why it was stopped?

The weather report is not discontinued. It has just been moved online to www.gulfnews.com, to a digital platform, which makes it easier to update and much more accessible. You can find it on the following link: http://gulfnews.com/uaessentials/weather. It is all part of our process to be as immediate and relevant as possible. And this also gives us more space in the print edition for further value-added content.
