Disparity
On gulfnews.com, the gold rate is different from the one mentioned in local jewellery stores. Does Gulf News have any technical issues regarding its widgets? Who is right?
From Mr M. Ali Baig
Dubai
Editor’s note: There is a note at the bottom of the Gold price: “Prices quoted are spot rates, provided in real time and set internationally. They exclude any local retailer margin.” That is, we do not include the markup a shop may put onto the price, hence the difference. We are aware people may want to know what would be the cost of actually going into a store and buying gold in the UAE. We are looking into this and are close to a final solution.
Take a stand
Gulf News, please raise your voice for Palestine, as your voice will reach.
From Mr Atif Shahzad
Dubai
Editor’s note: The newspaper practices fair and ethical journalism and has always believed in holding a mirror to society. The Palestinian conflict is an issue that we have actively covered to bring to fore the plight of the people and the injustices they face on a daily basis because of the Israeli atrocities.
There is regular multi-platform coverage with social media, special reports, in-depth coverage and daily news reports. You can log on to gulffnews.com and go to our Middle East section for the coverage or visit the section in the print edition for extensive analyses.
News process
I had always wished to know how reporters cover various stories on the field and compile it. It will be very interesting to read.
From Ms Fatima Suhail
Dubai
Editor’s note: It might be difficult to detail the various processes that reporters utilise to obtain and file stories. Essentially, the focus of every report is to find the news point in it – the relevance it has to our readers and how best that information will serve them. Based on that the news is covered and Gulf News makes sure that all facts are checked multiple times and sourced to ensure accuracy and credibility. Every story has a deadline and the reporters file based on that, after a detailed briefing with their editor. We hope that goes some way to help answer your query.
Too negative
Why do you share negative news from India as Asia or from Pakistan as Pakistan? I know you will never ever answer this, so I made it very simple for you. Is Pakistan a part of Asia?
From Mr Aabi
UAE
Editor’s note: Negative or positive news from India or Pakistan are shared under the folios of the respective countries. Gulf News does not favour any particular country, but offers balanced coverage from around the world.
