Are parents posing a threat to their children by posting their pictures online or are they simply following evolving technology when documenting their lives? Should parents have the right to take decisions regarding their children even if it may turn out to be harmful for them in the future?
The focus of this week’s debate is on children and their exposure to social media. Do you think that it is unethical to expose children to social media at an age where they cannot make a choice for themselves? Or do you think that it is a way of documenting their lives as they grow up and capturing memorable moments? Join our debate this week and tell us what you think.
These are the statements to be debated:
• Parents are neglecting their role as guardians by exposing their children to threats online.
• Children should be allowed to make mistakes without the whole world knowing it.
• By exposing their children on social media, parents are preventing their children from future anonymity.
• Posting pictures or videos of children online is just part of the evolution of how we document their lives.
Participants will be required to clearly state whether they are ‘for’ or ‘against’ the statement and provide their supporting arguments for the same.
