The signal from the authorities towards errant motorists is clear: zero tolerance. And with the first irresponsible driver being taken to task by the authorities, thanks to the newly updated federal traffic law, words were put into strict action. For those who do not obey the basic etiquette of driving in the UAE's streets and who go on to demonstrate absolutely no consideration towards their fellow drivers there is more bad news on the way: the authorities will be requesting the Dubai Court of Appeal for the toughest possible implementation of the punishment that is applicable.

The UAE's roads have exacted a very heavy casualty rate thanks to negligent drivers and the new law will help to lower these figures. The time for any sort of leniency is over. Human life is far too precious and the time has come to preserve it.
