So, it's not only about winning
What a silly ruling the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) has come out with. They are saying that from next year, all players who have been on LPGA tours for two years must be fluent in English. Allegedly, the reasoning behind it is to improve the standard of post-match interviews and communication skills with the media. Should a player not be able to pass a test in English, then that person will be suspended until a better level of comprehension is gained.
Apparently, it is no longer necessary to be top of your game, it's how you say "fore" that counts. It is to be hoped that such silliness does not enter the arenas of other sports - the English Premier League, for example, would suddenly find its teams suddenly shorn of their star players.
